MEET MIGUEL ARANDA
DEMOCRATIC CANDIDATE FOR
WISCONSIN'S 1ST CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT
Dear Neighbors,
My story begins in Whitewater, where my parents settled after immigrating from Mexico 35 years ago.
Our first home was a mobile home, and I grew up in a blue-collar, working-class household where hard work wasn’t optional. It was how you survived and how you showed love for your family.
Over the years, I’ve worked just about every kind of job you can imagine: in call centers, caregiving, retail, custodial services, fast food, and manufacturing. I know what it means to punch a clock, to do work that’s physically demanding, and to take pride in jobs that too often go unseen or unappreciated. No job has ever been too “dirty” for me, including the work of public service. I’ve always believed that leadership means rolling up your sleeves and doing the work, even when it’s hard.
For more than a decade, I’ve worked in education, helping students and families find pathways to opportunity. Today, I serve as an Associate Director of a pre-college program, and I earned my Master of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater.
My commitment to our community led me to public office, where I’m proud to serve as Vice President of the Whitewater Unified School District School Board. In that role, I’ve seen firsthand how decisions made at every level of government impact families right here at home.
My wife and I have been married for ten years, and together we’re raising three beautiful children. Like so many families across Wisconsin’s 1st Congressional District, everything I do is grounded in the question of what kind of future we’re building for the next generation and whether the systems around us are actually working for the people who keep our communities running.
I’m running for Congress because too many working families in Wisconsin’s 1st District feel like Washington has stopped listening to them.
This district is full of people who work hard, care deeply about their neighbors, and believe in doing the right thing, from factory floors and farms to classrooms, small businesses, and family kitchens. Yet too often, decisions are made by people who have never lived the realities we face every day.
I’m running to be a voice for working families, for people who deserve representation grounded in real lived experience, not theory.
You don’t have to agree on every issue to agree that everyone deserves dignity, fairness, and a government that works. This campaign is about bringing people together, listening with respect, and fighting for a future where families across Wisconsin’s 1st District have a real chance to get ahead.
